Cal Poly Concrete Canoe Takes First at PSWS

Cal Poly’s Concrete Canoe Team has made waves once again! Their 2025 canoe, Vivaldi, earned 1st place overall at the Pacific Southwest Symposium (PSWS), held earlier this spring. This remarkable win qualifies the team to advance to the ASCE Concrete Canoe National Championships—which Cal Poly is proudly hosting this year.

The PSWS competition, a regional qualifier for the national stage, brought together engineering students from universities across the Southwest to showcase their technical innovation and teamwork. Cal Poly’s Vivaldi excelled across all scoring categories, resulting in a first-place finish and a spot at nationals.

Now, they’re heading to the 2025 ASCE Concrete Canoe Championships, where teams from across the country will compete at Cal Poly for one of the most iconic engineering challenges in the nation. As both host and top contender, Cal Poly’s team is diligently preparing to showcase their innovation, craftsmanship, and Mustang pride on the national stage.

We look forward to welcoming teams to campus and cheering on our students as they continue to demonstrate excellence in engineering. Congratulations to the Concrete Canoe Team on this outstanding achievement—and best of luck at Nationals!
